We went for Kyndalls 9 month check up today (can I start planning her 1st party yet????). It's so funny to me that they "rate" babies in percentiles to let us know how unaverage (is that even a word) our babies really are. From the way I understand it, if you have a fat baby, they are in the 98th percentile...I mean, I get it. You don't want to call a 1 year old fat, even it they are a big ol baby. But on the opposite end, there are the tiny ones, that are in the 25th percentile, or as in the case of one of the blogs that I follow, well, stalk....the 10th percentile! We got all of Kyndalls measurements today...and she's still a tiny thing. Weighing in at 17lbs, 8 oz. The nurse wrote down 25-50 % however, when we looked at the chart, she was really in the 25th. That's for trying to boost our confidence Ms. Nurse Lady! :) Her length was actually closer to average as she's 28", and in the 50-75%. So, she's going to be small, which we've know since both Dustin and I were small as kids (and as I long to be one day again). We are still a week or so away from my "monthly update", so I won't bore you with all of the new thing she's done so far this month, but other than teething and crawling, we're making progress!!!!
And while we're on the subject of teething, the dr didn't see it to be an issue that she's drooling about 2.43 gallons a day, yet still no teeth. She just said to wait and she if she has them at a year, then we can worry. Really?!?! She's been "teething" for the past 4 months. Seriously, do babies really teeth this long?! Wholly crap this sucks! Or drools...whichever way you want to look at it.
she'll be fine - it seems like there's always some sort of pressure for babies/kids to do things by certain dates or fit into certain numbers. as long as she's near the mark it'll be okay.
ReplyDeletelololol @ the "sucks...or drools" line though!
