Even though I'm a grown woman, and have been out of the house for a while...now that her granddaughter has arrived, my Mom has a new level of keeping up with me. More like keeping up with me as a parent to my daughter. A few days ago something happened with Kyndall and the first thought I had was, this is going on my blog! Shortly followed by, oh crap. My Mom reads my blog. She's going to kill me.
Here's the deal - Everyone morning part of our routine is Kyndall gets up, has a bottle then goes in her Excersaucer or the "pond" as we call it (we're not that crazy, one of the toys actually says "hooray for playing in the pond!". It's a duck/bug/flower/turtle themed one I guess you could say) where she plays for about an hour, before she's ready for her 1st nap of the day. Between her playing and then napping this is my time to either relax and do nothing but watch the Today show while crocheting, or get a lot done around the house...entirely depending on the mood.
A few mornings ago K's in the pond playing as usual, I'm around the house, either in the same room as her which is the living room, or one of the rooms attached but where I can still see her. She starts getting fussy, meaning naptime, and when I get her out, I notice a watery brown drizzled down her shirt. My thought? Ok, she spit up some of her dinner from last night. Either that or theres something on her toy that I missed when cleaning it. Our routine says that she takes her nap, gets up for breakfast, then we change her into her daytime clothes. When it comes time to change I notice more brown on her sleep pants. I think ok, I guess she really did spit up dinner, and she sat on it while playing and rubbed it into her pants. No biggie. No one sees her in her pj's anyways, much less a spot between her legs.
Then, it happens. My "ah ha" moment of the day. As I'm walking past her Excersaucer, I notice something sitting on the edge of it. Something red. Kinda of shiny. I feel this is the point where pictures tell a better story.
For those who cannot tell, the red shiny object that my 8 month old had been chewing on without me know was a Valentines Hersey's Kiss. It wasn't one of those thing where she was on the floor and "puts everything in her mouth"...she was in her safe zone. Where I know all the toys are ok, and she's not going to choke, or injury herself too badly with them. Little did I know, my child has a little something that I like to call "Go Gadget arms". The candy was on a photo portfolio that was on our side table, which I thought was well out of her reach. Apparently, she knocked the portfolio onto the floor, and somehow the trajectory (yes, I just used that word) from the tipped book, flung the candy into the air, landing it on her Pond. I could not make this up. But when I examined where the book was, and where the Pond was...this was the only thing my detective skills could lead me to.
So there...yes she could have choked on it, and I know she shouldn't have chocolate so young. But its done, and she's fine. All I can do now is keep her a bit more away from the table. The funny thing is that I never saw this in her mouth, or in her hand. Which leads me to believe that, she wasn't too big of a fan of it. This makes me question...is this really my kid? But, can you imagine the look on her face when this beautiful new shiny red thing just fell from the sky and landed right in front of her?! I bet it was a good one!
Oh, and at least she survived it and still has her big toe attached!!! Ha ha. I love you Mom!
Speaking of my mom...Doesn't she look great!!! One more treatment to go, mid/end of April! Praise God, He has brought her through this in such an amazing way! Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

That is funny. One of those stories that you tell forever and she'll eventually roll her eyes everytime you tell it. lol Gotta have LOTS of those.
