People

So, I'm a total believer that there are two types of people in this world...1.) dog people, and 2.) those who don't matter...ha ha...just kidding. Dog people, and non-dog people, and a non-dog person will never fully understand the love, admiration, and companionship that a dog offers. I am a TRUE dog person. I believe there is no other animal on this planet that is as smart as, loving as, or special as a domesticated dog. I've had dogs my whole life, and while I saw them come and go, I was never really that close to one, until my $50 Christmas present in 2000. My now husband, bought me (and what turned into us) Chynna. A 8 week old Pit Bull. For years we delt with the stigma that came with having a pit, we were bad people, she was a bad dog, pits were horrible, "why would we own one", etc. But every person that knew Chynna, and spent time with her knew that she was in no way like the ones you see on tv. The ones owned by horrible people, who have them more as showcases then dogs. But...don't let me go there right now...that's not what this is about...its about dog people remember????

Chynna taught both me and Dustin a lot. She taught a couple of kids responsibility, and a love that is never ending. Dustin never liked dogs, or animals really, before her. Now, he has such a heart for them, any animal, that I can only sit back and smile at how she changed him.

But, now that she's gone...I had this strong and growing need for that companionship and love again. Now...in dog people, I also believe that there are two types of dog people...those who can't be without a dog after a loss, and those who have to immediately have to have another. I found out that I have to have one...while Dustin needed time. Since I'm here alone at night, I really just needed that companionship that I was used to after Kyndall went to bed. I needed the sound of a bark where there was a noise outside to comfort me, I needed to hear that tail wagging when the door unlocked as Dustin came in from a long night at work. So, my wonderful and giving husband...gave up his wants and feelings, and into mine, and I (we) got a new puppy for an early birthday present (well, and from my mom too).

While she's not quite barking at the noises outside at night, or thumping her tail against the bed when Dustin comes in (it's cropped so she can't), she is still keeping me busy at night when he's gone and K's asleep. And I'm loving it.

Here's our new addition. A 7 week old Corgi named Penny.
